Russett School responds on new website to get disabled kids playing again

Deciding where to take children with learning disabilities on days out can be difficult, but a new website has been launched to make the process easier. A Russett School spokesperson responds.

A new website aimed at families who have children with special needs and/or disabilities has been launched. SENDirect is a review site similar to TripAdvisor, in that it allows visitors to search family activities and other things by postcode, price range, age suitability, health services, specialist equipment, childcare and more.

Hundreds of parents were involved in the development of SENDirect, as they helped to decide what sort of information they would find useful when it came to researching services. Users can rate each service based on their experience, and then it’s made visible for everyone to read. The site will allow parents to do research before a day out and avoid any unnecessary trouble.

The Russett School, an outstanding specialist learning difficulty school based in Cheshire, takes a strong interest in stories such as this. A spokesperson provided this statement: “It’s always great to hear that more support is being given to families who have children with special needs. A site which shows families exactly what to expect before they arrive at an activity or event will come in very handy, and hopefully it’ll lead to more children doing what they love and enjoy.

“At The Russett School, rated outstanding by Ofsted in July 2014, we believe that special needs children should be given a healthy, happy and purposeful classroom environment to flourish in. Our highly qualified and friendly staff are committed to providing high quality education for all of our pupils and students, giving them great skills to carry on into life. Contact us today if you’re interested in enrolling your child in The Russett School.”

The Russett School is based in Weaverham, Cheshire and is the only specialist learning difficulty school in the country to have achieved the Gold Quality mark.
