Over the period of the Easter holiday, cycle experts Halfords are offering kids to learn the basics completely free of charge. Starting at 10am on each Wednesday during Easter, the workshops are available at 423 Halfords outlets. Every workshop will last for around an hour and the aim is to teach those aged 8-10 which basics they should check regularly on their bikes.
The sessions are to include both a tutorial and a demonstration on how to mend punctures, reattach a chain and also how to adjust the height of the saddle and the handle bars. There will also be a drawing competition with the lucky winner pedalling away on a brand new bike with a value of up to £250.
Halfords CSR Manager, Emma Thomas said: ” Last year’s Olympic and Tour De France successes introduced a whole new generation to cycling. We are keen to build on that. The bike workshops are aimed to be fun and interactive. They provide a great starting point for kids and even parents to go back home and try out what they have learned together on their own bikes.”
